If you don't get a chance, how will you improve

A friend called me today. He was upset at not being picked in the eleven for the playoff games of the cricket tournament. He mentioned working hard and being involved the whole year, only to not being picked for the final few games. I agreed with him, and told him that the management just picked the 11 they thought were the best. He then said something, which really made me think.

"If you don't give me an opportunity, how will i show how good I am".

He used to be good in the past, but had slowed down in the past couple of years. However if we just disregard the past and think about what he wanted to convey (the above quote), it made sense.

Many times people are so much bound with past impressions, that we fail to see what is in front of us in the present. So make the most of any opportunity you get.

It is interesting to see how babies learn new things. From not being able to support his head, he can now sit upright and has recently been trying to crawl. None of this has been taught, and is just that they learn by themselves. Adaptation!! He is 7 months old now and trying to speak a few words.
